About David Arscott

David Arscott
David began his working life as a newspaper journalist, later became a BBC radio producer/presenter and has for many years written and published books.

He founded the Sussex Book Club in 1998 with the aim of marketing his own books. Word quickly spread, and all of the major publishers of local titles now sell through the club’s newsletters. The club’s success reflects the large number of new books about Sussex launched every year – and, of course, a correspondingly large (and discerning) readership.

‘A great many people live some distance from a decent bookshop,’ he says, ‘and even those outlets which stock Sussex titles have a relatively small range to offer. By joining the book club you'll be able to keep in touch with practically all the latest local publications.’

David has written some 30 books on Sussex for a number of publishers and has brought out several titles under his own Pomegranate Press imprint. He also helps other authors to self-publish their books, not only those on Sussex themes, but autobiographies, fiction, family histories – indeed, any kind of book under the sun. (See our Home Page for the link to Pomegranate Press.)

His other activities include giving talks on Sussex themes, and training individuals and organisations in media techniques. (You can contact him via the Home Page.) He is also the honorary secretary of the Society of Sussex Authors, whose members meet in Lewes six times a year.
